GASTC Participants and Families,
After the announcement earlier this week that the competition would not be held this weekend, we wanted to send out some more detailed information and updates for all of you. The decision to cancel the 2020 State Technology Competition was not an easy decision to make. Following the decision to cancel, more and more events have also made similar decisions. As many of you know, COVID-19 is an ever-changing situation and new information comes out daily. Our team of volunteers across the state of Georgia has been committed to providing this wonderful opportunity for each and every student in Georgia for the last 19 years.
The health and safety of everyone involved with GASTC – students, parents, and volunteers – is our No. 1 priority. Additionally, we want to provide the opportunity for students to participate in the competition this year and showcase the results of so many hours of work and effort. Rest assured, our team of volunteers is diligently exploring alternate options to hold the competition in some capacity and we will communicate the details as decisions are made. A final decision will be made by the beginning of April. As you can imagine, scheduling an event of this magnitude requires a lot of planning, communication, and effort.
We want to thank all of you who have reached out to provide your thoughts, suggestions, and advice. It’s great to know there are so many others across the state who are as passionate about these students and this competition as we are.
Thank you,
Tom Lamb
